A JAMU INDUSTRY SERVING COMMUNITIES AND THE ENVIRONMENT

The story of Bapak Siem Thiam Hie (born 28 January 1897; died 12 April 1976) and Ibu Rakhmat Sulistio (born 13 August 1897; died 14 February 1983) began when the couple operated a dairy farm called Melkrey, at the time the largest in Ambarawa, Kapubaten Semarang, Jawa Tengah. In 1930, the couple opened a bakery called Roti Muncul. In the same year, Ibu Rakhmat Sulistio began formulating the jamu now known as Tolak Angin.
